A First-of-Its-Kind View of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 Games
Samsung is teaming up with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to bring viewers a whole new perspective of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
For the first time ever, the opening ceremony will take place on the Seine River, with athletes from around the world parading on designated boats. To capture this historic event, Samsung will install over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on these vessels.
The high-quality footage captured by these phones will be streamed live via a private 5G network. This will allow fans around the world to experience the opening ceremony like never before. Samsung will also deploy this technology at the sailing competitions in Marseille. This will give viewers a front-row seat to the action.
Overcoming Challenges to Deliver a Seamless Experience
This innovative approach presented some challenges, such as ensuring video quality and connectivity across various water conditions and weather. Samsung addressed these issues by leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s advanced features and working closely with partners to install relay towers.
“Samsung’s latest mobile innovation will allow millions of fans around the world to live and breathe the spirit, action and emotion of the Opening Ceremony and sailing competitions alongside their favourite athletes in real-time,” said Yiannis Exarchos, Chief Executive Officer of OBS.
Samsung’s Long Legacy of Supporting the Olympic Games
This is just the latest chapter in Samsung’s long-standing partnership with the Olympic Games. Since 1998, Samsung has been providing cutting-edge technology to athletes, fans, and communities. This includes initiatives like the first “Call Home” program and the Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) app, which provided mobile access to Games information.
