YouTube Shorts Won’t Be So Short Anymore, Beginning This Month

YouTube Shorts Are Getting Longer, Starting This Month

YouTube is expanding its short-form video platform by increasing the maximum length of Shorts from 60 seconds to three minutes. This change will take effect starting on the 15th of October.

YouTube Shorts New Time Limit

The move is designed to give creators more flexibility and allow for deeper storytelling. It’s also a response to popular demand from users who have been requesting longer Shorts.

While the minimum upload limit remains at 15 seconds, the increased time limit will apply to videos that are square or taller in aspect ratio. Any videos uploaded before the 15th of October will not be affected.

In addition to the longer time limit, YouTube is also working on improving recommendations for longer Shorts. This means that users will be more likely to discover and watch Shorts that are longer than 60 seconds.

YouTube is also introducing new features to make it easier for creators to create Shorts. For example, creators will soon be able to use Veo, Google’s AI model for generating videos, to create new backgrounds and clips that can be added to Shorts. They will also be able to remix clips from their favourite videos or music tracks directly from the Shorts camera.

Overall, these changes are a significant step forward for YouTube Shorts. They will give creators more creative freedom and make it easier for users to discover and watch longer, more engaging short-form videos.
