vivo X200 Series Launched

vivo X200 Series

Chinese smartphone maker vivo has officially launched its highly anticipated vivo X200 series. The X200 series, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, comes with features such as Live Photo functionality, immersive AI capabilities, and impressive imaging technology.

With prices ranging from 4,299 yuan (~RM2,603) to 6,799 yuan (~RM4,166), the X200 series consists of three models: the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro mini. This new series marks vivo’s latest effort to capture a share of the lucrative premium market, positioning itself alongside recent flagship releases from Apple and Huawei. The company announced that the X200 will begin shipping on the 19th of October in China.

Technological Powerhouse: Dimensity 9400

The X200 series is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset. This chipset is optimised for edge artificial intelligence (AI) applications, advanced gaming, and improved photography. By focusing on edge AI, it enables real-time data processing directly on the device. This reduces reliance on cloud computing and enhances response times for tasks such as voice commands, object recognition, and gaming.

Imaging Breakthroughs: Sony and Zeiss Collaboration

The flagship X200 Pro model features a 200-megapixel camera powered by a Sony sensor and a Zeiss “apochromatically corrected” lens. This combination is designed to deliver great detail, even at 20x zoom. It uses sophisticated algorithms to ensure clarity at higher magnifications. The Pro model also supports 4K video recording at 120 frames per second. Additionally, it offers cinematic slow-motion capture, a feature that rivals Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro models.

vivo’s inclusion of the Live Photo format, which captures a brief moment before and after a photo is taken, enhances its compatibility with Apple’s ecosystem, offering a user-friendly experience for those who switch between devices.

Additional Features: Connectivity and AI Enhancements

The X200 series offers more than just imaging. It introduces network-free communication via Bluetooth. This feature allows devices to stay connected for voice and text messaging without needing a cellular network. The range extends up to 2 kilometres. This is great for outdoor enthusiasts or in areas with weak network signals.

vivo has also integrated several AI-driven features, including “Origin Island,” an interactive system similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island but with more cross-app functionality. Another highlight is the “Circle to Search” feature, akin to Samsung’s search tool introduced earlier this year.

The vivo X200 series will be available in a variety of colours, including blue, grey, white, and black, with pre-orders starting today ahead of the official Chinese shipping date on the 19th of October.
