Google Pixel 9a Full Renders Have Surfaced Online; Features a Flat Design

Google Pixel 9a Leaked Again?

The Google I/O 2025 developer conference is scheduled for May as usual. However, the launch of the budget-friendly Google Pixel 9a may occur earlier, possibly in March. Recent leaks have revealed real mock-ups of the device in all four colour options: Peony, Iris, Obsidian, and Porcelain, mirroring the colour scheme of the Pixel 9 series.

A striking feature of these mock-ups is the near-flat design. The camera module is almost completely integrated into the back panel, eliminating the traditional camera bump. This innovative design approach may potentially influence the design of future Pixel flagships, such as the Pixel 10.

Specifications and Pricing

The Pixel 9a is rumoured to boast a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED display, powered by the latest Tensor G4 chip. The camera system is expected to include a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. Notably, Google is committed to providing extended software support, with the Pixel 9a potentially receiving updates for up to seven years.

Pre-orders for the Pixel 9a will commence on March 19th, following the official announcement. The device will retain its competitive USD499 starting price, with the 256GB model priced at USD599.  However, I don’t see that here and personally I feel that the anticipated retail price in Malaysia is expected to exceed RM2,500, which could pose a challenge to its competitiveness in the mid-range market. This price point might make more affordable flagship devices a more attractive option for Malaysian consumers.

Will you consider purchasing the Pixel 9a?

The Pixel 9a presents an intriguing proposition with its unique design, powerful specifications, and long-term software support. However, the potential price increase could, on the other hand, deter some consumers. Given these factors, would you consider purchasing the Pixel 9a at the expected price point? Alternatively, would you explore other options in the mid-range or flagship segments?
