HUAWEI Just Did the IMPOSSIBLE! 😱

Something that was deemed impossible is now possible because HUAWEI has just concluded their global launch of the HUAWEI Mate XT—yep, the world’s first-ever commercial trifold smartphone that is finally available for everyone!

But what’s even more awesome is that the launch happened right here in Malaysia! So, let me show you what went down in this HUAWEI Innovative Product Launch, where they also revealed three more devices.

The event kicked off with HUAWEI’s James Warren, the Head of International Media, talking about how HUAWEI has made major technological leaps forward—basically taking us from science fiction to reality. Because if you think about it, my friends, just five years ago, foldable phones barely existed. But now, we are looking at trifold screens! This is how fast tech is really moving.

Then, Andreas Zimmer, the Head of Product, stepped in and proved something huge—that the foldable era is just getting started. First, they had the HUAWEI Mate X6, which really redefined foldables, but now there is the new Mate XT Ultimate Design.

After introducing the other new products like the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″”, the HUAWEI FreeArc, and the HUAWEI Band 10—which is their latest sleep tracker—once the event concluded, I was one of the first to enter the product experience area. And wow, it did not disappoint!

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″ Tablet

First up, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″ experience area. They literally shined a spotlight on the PaperMatte display to show how the anti-glare and anti-reflection properties compare to other tablets. If only my skin and my face could block reflections as well as this screen—I wouldn’t need to put on makeup before shooting my videos! But yes, more on the tablet later.

Materials Showcase

Next, there was a very interesting showcase of all the hardware materials, including the unique ionic curved design materials.

Then, you know those crazy thin batteries they talked about? Yep, they had them on display over there too, and they were insanely slim! They also showcased the advanced hinge that is included in the HUAWEI Mate XT as well.

HUAWEI Mate XT

Next to it was the HUAWEI Mate XT’s hands-on area, and my first impression? Absolutely mind-blowing. It comes in Red or Black, but what really shocked me was how thin it was when unfolded—only 3.6mm! Yep, just 3.6mm. This phone is so thin that it makes my wallet look thick, and I only have one ringgit inside.

So yeah, it’s even thinner than most phones or tablets, and somehow, they managed to fit a huge 5,600mAh battery (typical capacity) in here.

As mentioned earlier, this is the world’s thinnest smartphone battery at just 1.9mm. That is thinner than my patience when someone takes 30 minutes to reply to a text! This is because HUAWEI has used the latest generation silicon-carbon battery to make it ultra-slim yet still very powerful—beating the usual trade-off of size versus battery life.

But if you’re worried about foldable screens being fragile, well, you don’t have to be. HUAWEI has used multidirectional flexible materials, making the screen 25% more bend-resistant and 30% stronger against impacts.

Then there’s a new non-Newtonian fluid material inside—yes, actual sci-fi level material science—which makes the phone feel solid in the hands, to the point that I felt like it was a regular phone without the usual flex or wobble.

As for the display, when unfolded, there’s a huge 10.2-inch Hi-Res HUAWEI X-True™  Display, meaning the screen is bigger than an iPad Mini but still folds down to fit in your pocket. It also has a 3K ultra-high resolution with thin bezels all around.

In single-screen mode, it’s 6.41 inches; in dual-screen mode, it’s 7.93 inches. And those creases in the two middle parts? Impressively small.

The HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design is also the first foldable smartphone to have a 10-size adjustable physical aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, mimicking the way professional DSLR lenses work. This is perfect for lighting control and gives you the ultimate flexibility for shallow depth-of-field shots.

Plus, there’s also a 5.5x periscope telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

Back to HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″ Tablet

Now, back to the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2″. It has a 144Hz refresh rate and a 3K resolution OLED display.

Beyond the PaperMatte display, what really stood out to me was the PC-level WPS Office integration—you can use WPS Spreadsheet, WPS Presentation, and WPS Writer just like you would on a normal laptop. So basically, you have no more excuses for accidentally leaving your work at home.

You can also write using the HUAWEI M-Pencil (3rd-generation variant), type with the HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard (with the powerful NearLink technology), or just use your touch gestures.

It also has a 10,100mAh battery with 100W SuperCharge. It also features 3D heat dissipation that boosts the tablet’s performance by 30%. Despite all this power, the tablet is just 5.5mm thin and weighs about 580g.

GoPaint App & XMAGE Showcase

Of course, one of the best apps on the tablet is HUAWEI’s very own GoPaint app.

They even had a nice wall showcase featuring some amazing art from creators all around the world, including Malaysia. There was even a live demo of the GoPaint app.

Speaking of showcases, there was also a display on the wall featuring XMAGE technology pictures—all taken with the new HUAWEI Mate XT and Mate X6. The quality of these pictures was seriously amazing, and I feel they could be appreciated even more in real life.

HUAWEI FreeArc

Then, I checked out the HUAWEI FreeArc earbuds, which have a 140-degree optimal triangle secure fit—meaning they stay locked in place even when you’re moving. I did my usual headbanging test with some other content creators, and they didn’t fall out of our ears. So yes, this means they’re also perfect for sports.

Based on my first impressions, the audio was surprisingly really good, even in a noisy environment. The bass response was nice and punchy, even without the speakers being inside the ears.

They are also IP-rated for sweat and rain resistance. The earbuds come with a sleek charging case that gives you up to 28 hours of playback. With just 10 minutes of fast charging, you get up to 3 hours of playback!

So yeah, besides the HUAWEI Mate XT, I have to say that the FreeArc earbuds were one of my favorite devices too.
