Introducing the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro
Nothing has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, pushing the boundaries of mid-range smartphones with a focus on advanced camera capabilities, enhanced performance, and innovative software features. The new series, building on the success of the Phone (2a), promises an “enhanced all-around experience” with significant upgrades across the board.
Camera Revolution
The Phone (3a) series marks a significant leap in Nothing’s camera technology, introducing optical zoom for the first time. The Phone (3a) features a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and up to 30x AI-enhanced ultra zoom, while the Phone (3a) Pro boasts a powerful periscope zoom with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor, offering 3x optical zoom and up to 60x ultra zoom.
Notably, the Pro model also excels in telemacro photography, focusing as close as 15cm. Both devices feature upgraded 50MP main sensors and Sony ultra-wide sensors, all powered by Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3.0 for professional-grade photography. The front cameras have also been upgraded, with the Pro model offering a 50MP sensor capable of 4K video recording with AI stabilisation and night video enhancement.
Performance and Efficiency
Under the hood, the Phone (3a) series is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, delivering a 33% CPU performance boost and 11% improved graphics compared to the Phone (2a). The devices are also 92% better at processing AI tasks, making them future-proof for emerging AI applications.
A large vapour chamber ensures optimal thermal management, while RAM Booster technology provides up to 20GB of RAM. Battery life has also been improved, with 5000mAh batteries offering up to two days of use and 50W fast charging delivering a full day’s power in under 20 minutes.
Refined Design and Display
Both models feature a more sophisticated design with upgraded glass back panels, enhanced symmetry, and an IP64 rating for durability. The 6.77-inch Full HD+ displays boast a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals even in bright sunlight.
Nothing OS and Essential Space
Running Nothing OS 3.1, built on Android 15, the Phone (3a) series offers a smooth and customisable user experience. A standout feature is Essential Space, an AI-powered hub for notes, ideas, and inspirations. Accessible via the new Essential Key, it simplifies content capture and organisation. Early access to Essential Space will be available to all (3a) series buyers, with future updates planned.
Availability and Pricing
The Phone (3a) is available in Black, White, and Blue, priced at RM1,699 for the 12+256GB variant. The Phone (3a) Pro, available in Grey and Black, is priced at RM1,999 for the 12+256GB model.
In Malaysia, the (3a) Pro will have an early bird sales event at CROSSOVER Sunway Pyramid on the 15th March, with pre-orders starting on the 8th March. General availability for the Phone (3a) begins 22nd March, and for the Phone (3a) Pro, 7th April. A limited release of the (3a) Pro will be available on nothing.tech starting 22nd March.
The devices will be available via Nothing.tech, online retailers like Lazada and Shopee, and various physical retailers and operators including DirectD, TMT, U Mobile, and Yes5G.
Nothing promises 6 years of software support, including 3 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates.
