In a further development, the company also unveiled a preview of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, touted as its most cost-efficient and fastest 2.5 model to date.

The announcement, made by Tulsee Doshi, Senior Director of Product Management on behalf of the Gemini team, highlights Google’s commitment to providing a versatile suite of AI models designed for optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and speed.
The general availability of Flash and Pro follows extensive feedback from developers, enabling confidence in building production applications. Companies such as Spline and Rooms, and organisations like Snap and SmartBear, have already been leveraging the latest versions in production for several weeks.
Introducing Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite: Speed and Efficiency Redefined
The new Flash-Lite, now available in preview, is poised to revolutionise high-volume, latency-sensitive tasks such as translation and classification. This model boasts all-around higher quality than its predecessor, 2.0 Flash-Lite, across various benchmarks, including coding, math, science, reasoning, and multimodal capabilities. Notably, it delivers lower latency than both 2.0 Flash-Lite and 2.0 Flash on a broad sample of prompts.
Flash-Lite retains the core strengths of the Gemini 2.5 family, including the ability to adjust computational “thinking” based on budget, integration with tools like Google Search and code execution, multimodal input processing, and an impressive 1 million-token context length. Accessibility and Future Prospects
The preview of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite is now accessible through Google AI Studio and Vertex AI, alongside the stable versions of 2.5 Flash and Pro. Both 2.5 Flash and Pro are also available within the Gemini app. Google Search now integrates custom versions of 2.5 Flash-Lite and Flash.
