After its announcement last week, Nothing has officially launched the Nothing Phone (3) and the Headphone (1) in Malaysia. The Phone (3) is the company’s first true flagship smartphone, while the latter marks its entry into the over-ear audio segment.

The Nothing Phone (3) introduces an evolved design language characterised by the integration of the Glyph Matrix, a micro-LED display on the device’s rear. This feature is engineered to provide users with at-a-glance information, aiming to mitigate excessive screen time. Further extending this interactive element, Glyph Toys offers integrated micro-games and utility tools, accessible directly from the rear panel, including a Glyph Mirror, Digital Clock, and gamified interactions.

Performance and Core Specifications

Core performance of the Nothing Phone (3) is driven by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, a 4nm SoC that delivers significant advancements in AI processing, gaming performance, and image handling compared to its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2). This includes a 36% increase in CPU power, an 88% GPU upgrade, a 60% boost in AI-related tasks, and 125% faster image recognition. Powering the device is a high-density 5150mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 65W wired fast charging, achieving a full charge in approximately 54 minutes, and 15W wireless charging.

The Nothing Phone (3)’s camera system comprises a pro-grade camera configuration featuring a class-leading 1/1.3” main sensor and capabilities for lossless optical zoom. Video capture supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps) across all lenses, benefiting from full optical image stabilisation.

Display Technology

The Nothing Phone (3)’s visual interface is a 6.67-inch flexible AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. This panel achieves a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits (HDR) and 1600 nits (High Brightness Mode), ensuring visibility in diverse lighting conditions. An adaptive refresh rate ranging from 30 Hz to 120 Hz and a 1000 Hz touch sampling rate contribute to fluid interactions, while 2160 Hz PWM dimming reduces eye strain. The display is framed by uniform 1.87 mm bezels on all four sides, resulting in a 92.89% screen-to-body ratio. In terms of its durability, it has an IP68 rating.

Software and AI Integration

Running on Nothing OS 3.5, based on Android 15, the software suite incorporates AI-driven features designed for streamlined user interaction. Key functionalities include Essential Search, a universal smart search bar for cross-platform content retrieval; Flip to Record, enabling hands-free transcription and summarisation of conversations; and Essential Space, an AI-organised repository for notes and content. Nothing commits to 5 years of major Android updates and 7 years of security updates for the Nothing Phone (3).

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Phone (3) is offered in black and white finishes, with configurations of 12GB RAM + 256 GB storage priced at RM3,299, and 16GB RAM + 512GB storage at RM3,799. Malaysian consumers can access exclusive launch day bundles at CROSSOVER Sunway Pyramid on Saturday, 19th July, starting at 11:00 AM. Pre-orders commenced on 12th July, via nothing.tech and authorised partners on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok, with general availability beginning 1st August.

Headphone (1): Auditory Excellence Through Distinctive Design

Nothing’s debut over-ear audio product, the Headphone (1), is engineered in collaboration with audio innovator KEF.

Acoustic Engineering and Sound Performance

This device features a 40mm dynamic driver custom-built and acoustically tuned by KEF, providing immersive audio across various modes, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparency, and Spatial Audio. On-device spatialisation and integrated head tracking dynamically adapt the soundstage to user movement, transforming stereo sources into a 360-degree auditory experience. The Headphone (1) supports Hi-Res Audio, LDAC codec, USB-C lossless playback, and includes a 3.5mm analogue jack.

Design and Ergonomics

The design emphasises tactile user interaction over touch controls, incorporating distinct “Roller, Paddle, and Button” elements for precise adjustment of volume, media navigation, and ANC mode switching. Construction uses premium materials such as formed aluminium, CNC-machined components, and PU memory foam, prioritising both comfort and visual appeal. Oil-resistant ear cushions are designed for ergonomic conformity and secure sealing.

Noise Cancellation and Call Clarity

Noise cancellation is managed by a dual feedforward and feedback microphone system, enabling real-time adaptive ANC. A 4-mic Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) system, trained on over 28 million noise scenarios, ensures clarity for voice communications even in challenging acoustic environments.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Battery performance provides up to 35 hours of listening time with ANC active. A rapid 5-minute charge yields 2.4 hours of playback. Connectivity is facilitated by Bluetooth 5.3, supporting dual device connection, Fast Pair, and low-latency performance.

Software Integration and Customisation

Nothing Headphone (1) Top Button

Within the Nothing X app, a customisable “Button” on the Headphone (1) enables Channel Hop, a quick-switch function for cycling between recent audio applications and preferred features. This button can also be configured for voice commands or to access Essential Space, a dedicated memory capture feature for voice notes and reminders, exclusive to Nothing devices. Further audio customisation is available through an 8-band Advanced Equalizer in the companion app.

The Headphone (1) is available in Black and White, priced at RM1,099. Pre-orders initiated on 12th July, via nothing.tech and select partners on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok, include a complimentary protective cover. Open sales commence on 1st August.
