Speculation is mounting that Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone could break price records, with recent leaks suggesting a domestic price tag exceeding ¥15,000 (approximately USD2,070). This would position it as the most expensive iPhone in the company’s history.

According to a report citing blogger Dingzhuo Digital, Apple’s upcoming foldable will feature an OLED panel supplied by Samsung, boasting what is described as the “best crease in the industry.” Battery capacity is expected to range between 5,000mAh and 5,500mAh.

Earlier analysis from UBS projected the material cost (BOM) for the foldable iPhone at approximately USD759. Their report estimated a potential retail price between USD2,000 and USD2,400, though they noted Apple’s strong cost control could bring the price down to the USD1,800 to USD2,000 range.

Anticipated Specifications

In terms of specifications, the foldable iPhone is rumoured to be powered by the A20 Pro chip and feature Apple’s first self-developed baseband chip, the C2. It is expected to come with 12GB of RAM and storage options including 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The device is said to feature a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display. For photography, it will reportedly include a dual 48-megapixel camera system, comprising a main camera and an ultra-wide-angle lens.

Design and Dimensions

Design-wise, the foldable iPhone’s thickness is anticipated to be between 9.0 to 9.5mm when folded and a slim 4.5 to 4.8mm when unfolded.
