Google Announces Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a with Significant Upgrades

In addition to the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Google has officially unveiled its latest wearable and audio devices, the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Buds 2a, bringing a host of improvements to its lineup. While the new Pixel Watch maintains its familiar design, it packs a more powerful punch under the hood, alongside a new set of budget-friendly earbuds.

Pixel Watch 4: More Power, Brighter Display, and Longer Battery Life

The Google Pixel Watch 4, available in 41mm and 45mm variants, retains the sleek, circular design of its predecessors but features a number of key enhancements. The new displays are a notable upgrade, now reaching a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for improved legibility in bright sunlight, a feature that aligns it with other 2025 smartwatches.

Powering the new watch is the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset. This SoC includes an always-on (AON) co-processor, a 22nm processor that handles background tasks to conserve energy, leading to a significant boost in battery life. The 41mm model now boasts a 327 mAh battery, promising up to 30 hours on a single charge, while the larger 45mm variant gets a 459 mAh battery, expected to deliver up to 40 hours of use with the always-on display.

Charging has also been improved, with the new “side charging” docking station providing a 25% faster charge.

In terms of software and features, the Pixel Watch 4 ships with Wear OS 6 and is “Gemini-ready,” allowing users to interact with the AI assistant simply by raising their wrist. Gemini is also integrated into various apps on the watch for quick queries. Health and fitness tracking capabilities include monitoring for over 40 types of exercise, as well as ECG, SpO2, breathing rate, and HRV.

The new Pixel Watch 4 will be available in Active band colours of Obsidian, Porcelain, and Moonstone, with the Sport band coming in Indigo, Limoncello, and Iris. The Active band is made from a new, more comfortable material.

The Pixel Watch 4 is priced at RM1,749 for the 41mm model and RM1,999 for the 45mm model. Both versions will be available in Porcelain and Obsidian, with the 45mm also offering a Moonstone option. General availability for the smartwatches begins in November.

Pixel Buds 2a: Budget Buds with Premium Features

Alongside the new smartwatch, Google introduced the Pixel Buds 2a, a new pair of budget-oriented TWS earbuds. Positioned below the Pixel Buds Pro 2, these new buds still offer several high-end features.

The Pixel Buds 2a mark a significant upgrade from the original A-series, which was released four years ago. They are the first in the A-series to feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), though they do not include the passive Silent Seal 2.0 noise isolation found in the Pro 2 models. The buds also support spatial audio, but without the head-tracking capability.

The battery offers up to 7 hours of playback time on a single charge, with the charging case extending that to a total of 20 hours. The case for the Pixel Buds 2a does not support wireless charging.

Available in Grey and Iris, the Pixel Buds 2a are priced at RM649 in Malaysia.
