Apple has introduced the AirPods Pro 3, the latest version of its popular wireless earbuds, with several notable upgrades. The new model features a redesigned form factor, improved sound quality, and new functionalities aimed at fitness and communication.

According to Apple, the AirPods Pro 3 offer an enhanced acoustic experience and what the company claims is “the world’s best in-ear Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).” The new earbuds are said to block up to four times more noise than the original AirPods Pro and twice as much as the previous generation. This is achieved through a new acoustic architecture and updated ear tips designed for better passive noise isolation.

The design of the AirPods Pro 3 has been refined for a more secure fit. Apple states that the internal components were re-engineered to make each earbud smaller, and the ear tip geometry was adjusted to increase stability during activities. The earbuds now come with five sizes of ear tips, including an extra-small (XXS) size, to accommodate a wider range of users. The new model also features an IP57 rating for sweat and water resistance.

A key new feature is the integration of a custom-built heart rate sensor. The AirPods Pro 3 can now track heart rate during workouts, with the data syncing to the Fitness app on the iPhone. This allows users to monitor their performance, track calories burned, and close their activity rings. The company also announced a new “Workout Buddy” experience, which uses an AI model to provide personalised insights during exercise.

AirPods Pro 3 Live Translation

Additionally, Apple has added a “Live Translation” feature to the new AirPods Pro, which is currently in a beta phase. The functionality is designed to facilitate in-person conversations by translating spoken language in real-time. It is powered by Apple Intelligence and works by using the earbuds’ microphones to pick up speech and provide a translated response.
