Samsung Focuses on Portability with New Sound Tower ST50F and ST40F Speakers
Samsung has introduced its latest portable audio devices, the Sound Tower ST50F and ST40F models, at IFA 2025. The new speakers, designed for portability, feature a combination of acoustic performance, customizable lighting, and long-lasting battery life for both indoor and outdoor use.
According to Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, the new Sound Tower “sets a new standard in how consumers experience entertainment in both indoor and outdoor settings.”
Acoustic Features
The Sound Tower’s acoustic structure is designed to deliver up to 240W of sound. The Waveguide technology applied to the dual dome tweeters aims to provide a wider soundstage. Dual woofers offer customizable bass through Deep, Punchy, and Gentle modes, allowing users to adjust the sound to their preferences.
Four additional sound modes: Standard, Wide, Stadium, and Outdoor, are included for further audio customisation. The ST50F model provides up to 18 hours of playtime, while the ST40F offers up to 12 hours on a single charge. The speakers feature a replaceable battery and IPX4 water resistance. Multiple units can be connected via Auracast Group Play or True Wireless Stereo (TWS).
Lighting and Entertainment Features
The Party Lights + system allows users to set the mood with five mood presets and six dynamic lighting patterns controlled via the Samsung Sound Tower App. The system is designed to synchronise dozens of LEDs with the music’s rhythm.
The LED lighting is integrated across five key areas of the speaker:
- Track light: Surrounds the woofers.
- Ring light: Highlights the tweeters.
- Line lights: Frame the speaker body.
- Crystal lights: Located at the base.
- Handle light: Illuminates the control panel.
The Sound Tower also includes DJ Booth and Karaoke modes and a guitar input.
Portability and Specifications
The new Sound Tower models feature a geometric design built for portability. The Grip & Roll design, with a bottom grip slot and integrated handle on the ST40F, and the addition of wheels and a telescopic handle on the ST50F, allows for mobility.
Key features of each model include:
- Sound Tower ST50F: 240W output, up to 18 hours of battery life, 6.5” dual woofers, 25mm dual dome tweeters, telescopic handle, and wheels.
- Sound Tower ST40F: 160W output, up to 12 hours of battery life, 5.25” dual woofers, 20mm dual dome tweeters, and an integrated handle.
Both models have IPX4 water resistance. The new Samsung Sound Tower will be available in Malaysia from October onwards.
