AI-Powered OriginOS 6 Begins Global Debut on vivo’s X300 Series

vivo is set to launch its OriginOS operating system to a global audience, five years after its initial release in China. The international version, OriginOS 6, is based on the upcoming Android 16 and will mark a significant shift for the company’s international smartphone software.
The move will replace FuntouchOS on vivo’s international devices, aligning the user experience globally with that of its Chinese market, where OriginOS has been the standard for several years.

vivo claims OriginOS 6 is focused on performance, with the company stating it improves app start-up times, data loading, and frame rate stability. The update also includes a new animation engine and a redesigned user interface.

The visual changes, part of what the company calls its “Origin Design” system, feature a unified interface with transparency and blur effects. It also includes a new proprietary font, Vivo Sans, which has adjustable weight and supports over 40 languages.
A notable feature is the “Origin Island,” which works with Android 16’s “Live Updates” feature. This displays a persistent notification for quick access to contextual actions, such as copying a phone number to immediately call or message it, or dragging an image for quick edits in the current app.

Artificial intelligence features are also included. vivo has worked with Google to integrate the Gemini chatbot and the Circle to Search function into the operating system.
The global rollout will commence with the new vivo X300 and X300 Pro smartphones. Following their release, the update is scheduled to reach other flagship models, including the vivo X Fold5, the vivo X200 series, the iQOO 13, and the iQOO Neo10 series.
The update process will begin next month, in November 2025, and will continue in phases into 2026 as the company works to bring OriginOS 6 to a wider range of older devices. vivo has noted that the rollout will be staggered, meaning some markets will receive the update before others.
