Back in late 2019, Xiaomi was one of the first smartphone companies to launch a smartphone with a 108MP camera, which upped the megapixel ante in a big way. Since then, many other companies have followed suit but no one has pushed past 108MP just yet.
Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station has claimed that Xiaomi are working on a device with a 200MP camera sensor. The bunny emoji used in the post is to denote Xiaomi.
DCS also claims that the device will use the SM8450 platform, the expected successor to the Snapdragon 888. Earlier this month, Evan Blass leaked the specs of the new chipset, stating that it will be built on a 4nm process, and offer an Adreno 730 GPU as well as a Spectra 680 ISP.
DCS also stated that the device will have a dual curved screen with a punch hole cutout. The outlet also added a comment that said it was too early to figure out which phone this is.
There was not a huge jump in quality in 108MP camera sensors compared to what was used before, so it will be interesting to see if a 200MP sensor actually offers a significant jump in quality.
