PC gamers in Japan are getting a treat this Halloween with the launch of the officially licensed Wireless Horipad for Steam. This new controller, developed by Hori in collaboration with Valve, boasts features familiar to Steam Deck users but doesn’t quite replace the discontinued Steam Controller.
The Wireless Horipad features menu buttons that mirror the Steam Deck. It also utilises touch sensors on its sticks that allows for gyro controls. It offers both wireless Bluetooth and wired USB-C connections, along with extensive customisation options through Hori’s software.
The Horipad lacks several features compared to the Steam Controller. It does not have rumble feedback. It also lacks the four signature back buttons. Additionally, it does not include the unique trackpads that defined its predecessor. This new gamepad leans more towards a traditional console controller design.
Is the Wireless Horipad Coming to Malaysia?
Launching on the 31st of October in Japan, the Wireless Horipad will be available in four colours: black, white, neon yellow, and violet. While the price tag is set at 7,890 yen (around RM231), there’s currently no word on whether this controller will be available in Malaysia or other regions.
