I was invited to be a part of the Galaxy S22 Series, and let me tell you that It was such a refreshing and nostalgic feeling to be part of an on-ground event. Not only were all of the Galaxy S22 Series available at the event, but there were also the new Galaxy Tab S8 Series and the super cool Freestyle projector, and I was extremely pleased with the image quality during my first impressions of seeing it firsthand.
The event was held in Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, where we all did an RTK swab test before entering the event venue, everything was totally smooth, and personally, I would love to see more events doing a similar SOP before entering an event.
After waiting about 20 minutes, my given number was called out, and I was all set to enter the venue. Here is where there was the hands-on area for all of the Galaxy S22 Series, and I got to get more time with the other non-Ultra S22 and the Galaxy Tab S8 Series as well.
Then I headed to another room where there was an excellent setup for the Freestyle projectors and a very cool Galaxy graffiti photo wall as well. Moving a little forward is where there was yet another cool setup that was catered towards using the S22’s Nightography mode, which, as you can see in these images, the pictures turned out amazing as expected since I have done a full review on this incredible night feature.
Then about 8 pm, we were called into the PJPAC’s Hall, which had a theater seating style, and here is where the main highlight of the event was started out with a warm greeting from the gorgeous Renee Wong (Head of PR and Citizenship for Samsung Malaysia Electronics) and later on we were introduced four local directors to film #withGalaxy S22 Series on four genres: Fashion, Fitness, Romance, and Music to launch the Born of the Galaxy Stars competition endorsed by Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest)
These four individuals are Laura of Passion Plus, Ismail of Plus, Jawagar of Graph Studio, and Taufiq of Seni Lab Studio. Out of all of them, I had personally worked with Taufiq during my time at Astro Group when I was the Head of Events & Music Label, so I was very aware of his talent, and it was nice to know that he was also part of this ensemble of great talent!
To participate in the Born of the Galaxy Stars competition, interested filmmakers must submit a short script in-line with the theme Borderless with Nightography by 17 April 2022.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) will then select 22 teams who will be presented with the Galaxy S22 Series to shoot and produce their short film. The final production will then be in the running to win an award in July 2022 at the Malaysian International Film Festival (MIFFest) opening ceremony.
In addition, one grand prize winner will be selected from the Top 3, and this winner will receive a recognition award, RM8,000 cash, a trophy, and Samsung products. The winner will also have a chance to expand their network to industry leaders in Malaysia during the 5th MIFFest Opening Ceremony.
I am personally really excited to see the results coming out of this competition participants because I KNOW how capable the cameras on the Galaxy S22 Series is
