CelcomDigi Removes Friends and Family Special Rate for Selected Postpaid Plans

CelcomDigi has announced that it will be discontinuing the special rate for calls and SMS to contacts under the ‘Friends and Family’ list. Consequently, this change will affect customers on certain Digi postpaid plans. Starting on the 17th of September, therefore, all calls and SMS will be charged according to the regular rates of the respective postpaid plan.

CelcomDigi: No More Friends and Family Rates For Certain Digi Plans

The change will affect customers on eight postpaid plans:

  • Ambassador
  • DG30(s)
  • DG Smart Plan 48
  • DG Smart Plan 65V
  • DG Smart Plan 75V
  • Digi Postpaid Ambassador 68
  • Digi Postpaid Ambassador 68V
  • Digi Postpaid Ambassador 78V

For some plans, the call rate will stay at 13 sen per 30 seconds. However, others will switch to offering unlimited calls for all networks. The SMS rate for all selected postpaid plans will be set at 10 sen per message.

It’s worth noting that many of these affected plans are legacy plans that are no longer offered to new customers. For instance, DG Smart Plan 48 was introduced in 2011. Initially, it allowed users to make unlimited calls and send unlimited SMS to three contacts registered under the Friends and Family list. Similarly, Digi Ambassador 68, launched in 2017, offered users unlimited SMS for all networks to three Friends and Family contacts.

In light of this change, therefore, Digi is recommending that customers on the affected plans consider switching to CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans. For instance, starting from RM40 per month, these plans offer unlimited calls to all networks as well as ultrafast Internet data plans.
