Coldplay Reveals That Their 12th Album Will Be Their Last Before Calling It a Day

Coldplay to Release Only Two More Albums Before Retirement

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has shared the band’s future plans. They will release only two more studio albums after their upcoming tenth album, “Moon Music.” In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Martin explained that the band has decided to limit their total output to 12 albums.

“We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Yeah, I promise,” Martin stated. He explained that the decision was influenced by the desire to maintain high-quality standards. It also gives the band members more freedom in their personal lives.

“Having that limit means the quality control is so high right now,” Martin said. “For a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great.” He also mentioned that the process of making a “great” album is time-consuming and demanding, and he wants to allow his bandmates to pursue other interests.

While Martin confirmed that he would continue to make music after Coldplay’s retirement from studio albums, he emphasised that the band’s unique creative chemistry is something that cannot be replicated. He also hinted at the possibility of future collaborations with his bandmates outside of the traditional album format. “So if we do something together after that creatively beyond touring, then it’ll be something different, or it’ll be a side thing, or it’ll be a compilation of things we hadn’t finished.”
