Malaysian Subscribers Face Disney+ Price Hike for Monthly Plans
Disney+ has announced a significant change to its subscription structure and pricing in Malaysia, set to take effect on 18 December. This move comes shortly after the streaming service rebranded from Disney+ Hotstar, after Hulu was put in charge of its international content.
Starting 18 December, the monthly price for the Disney+ Basic plan will increase from its current RM24.90 to RM29.90. The Disney+ Premium plan will also see a rise, from RM39.90 to RM49.90 per month. Additionally, the three-month Premium plan will increase from RM79.90 to RM99.90.

The primary differences between the tiers remain unchanged, focusing on streaming quality and concurrent screen access. The Basic plan provides streaming on one screen at a time with video quality up to Full HD (1080p). The Premium plan offers a higher-end experience, allowing for simultaneous streaming on up to three screens, 4K Ultra HD resolution, and Dolby Atmos audio.
Despite the new monthly rates, the streaming service has stated that its annual subscription prices will remain unchanged. The Basic annual plan will stay at RM214.90, and the Premium annual plan will continue to be RM289.90.
This marks the second price adjustment for the service in just over a year. The platform previously increased its prices early last year, when it moved from an introductory offer of RM54.90 for three months to RM24.90 per month or RM79.90 for three months.
