Firefly Video Model: Adobe’s New Tool Brings AI to Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro Gets AI-Powered Editing with Firefly Video Model

At Adobe MAX, the company unveiled a wave of exciting new features for video editors, most notably the first set of Firefly-powered editing tools in Premiere Pro. With this groundbreaking update, Adobe leverages the power of its new Firefly Video Model (beta), first teased last month, to truly revolutionise the editing process.

One of the biggest headaches for video editors is dealing with footage gaps. However, Premiere Pro’s new Generative Extend (beta) tool, powered by Firefly, offers a solution. With this tool, editors can intelligently generate new frames, which allows them to seamlessly extend clips, smooth out transitions, and hold on shots for the perfect edit. The editing process becomes much more efficient too and less frustrating. As a result, the editing process becomes more efficient and polished.

Firefly Video Model: Safe for Commercial Use

As with all Firefly models, the Firefly Video Model also prioritises commercial safety. Moreover, it is trained on licensed content and rigorously assessed through AI Ethics Impact Assessments. In addition, its outputs are transparently labelled with Content Credentials, thereby ensuring responsible use.

Beyond AI: More Power and Efficiency for Editors

Premiere Pro boasts a range of performance enhancements. Editors can now enjoy:

  • Triple-speed ProRes exports
  • Faster playback with increased hardware acceleration
  • A new context-aware properties panel for easier access to tools
  • Expanded camera support for Canon, Sony, ARRI, and RED
  • A refreshed, modern design

After Effects and Frame.io Get Supercharged

Moreover, After Effects benefits from an enhanced 3D workspace along with integration with Substance 3D, thus enabling the creation of stunning 3D elements for motion graphics and VFX projects. Meanwhile, Frame.io receives a complete overhaul, which simplifies collaboration with features like custom metadata models as well as integration with leading camera brands.

Adobe’s video tools continue to empower award-winning content creation. Leading television shows, documentaries, and films, including Emmy-winners like “The Bear” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” rely on Adobe’s suite.

Limited Public Beta

The Firefly Video Model is currently in a limited public beta. Users can join the waitlist and experiment with free generations during this period. Pricing and availability for future offerings will be announced upon the model’s official release.
