HUAWEI Launches a More Affordable Foldable with the HUAWEI nova Flip S in China

HUAWEI has officially launched its latest clamshell foldable smartphone, the HUAWEI nova Flip S, in China today, confirming many of the specifications that surfaced in online leaks last month. The launch positions the new device as a budget-conscious entry in the foldable market, maintaining a similar design to its predecessor while introducing upgraded features.

The HUAWEI nova Flip S features a 6.94-inch flexible LTPO OLED main screen and a 2.14-inch OLED cover display, both supporting a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The device is available in a variety of colours, including White, New Green, Sakura Pink, and Starry Black, with two new additions: Sand Black and Sky Blue.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on HUAWEI’s Harmony OS 5.1, an update from the 5.0 version previously expected. It is powered by an octa-core processor, widely reported to be the new Kirin 8030. The device is offered in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB storage configurations, with reports also suggesting a top-tier 1TB variant. The camera system consists of a dual-camera setup on the back, featuring a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP wide-angle lens, complemented by a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies. A 4,400mAh battery powers the device, with support for 66W fast wired charging.

The HUAWEI nova Flip S is priced aggressively, with the base model starting at CNY3,388 (approximately RM2,008), significantly lower than the 5,000 yuan mark rumoured before the launch.
However, a local Malaysian release seems highly unlikely, as the previous generation of the device was not officially brought into the country.
