Meta AI Arrives in Malaysia Through Web Interface
Meta’s artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI, is now accessible to users in Malaysia through its standalone website, Meta.AI. This initial rollout provides web-based access to the company’s generative AI tools.
The website allows users to engage in chat-based conversations with the AI, generate images, and create videos. It also features a “Vibes” section where users can browse AI-generated content shared by others.
While the web platform is live, the service is not yet fully integrated into Meta’s suite of applications for users in Malaysia. The ability to access Meta AI directly within WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, a feature launched in other countries, is still pending activation in the region.
This in-app feature, expected to be enabled soon, allows users to summon the assistant directly in chats or search bars, often by typing “@Meta AI.”
The service is powered by Meta’s Llama 3 language model and integrates real-time search results, allowing it to provide answers based on current information. The website’s launch serves as the first phase of Meta AI’s introduction to the Malaysian market, preceding the wider integration into the social media and messaging apps used by millions in the country.
