Apple Reportedly Plans to Integrate Google’s 1.2 Trillion Parameter Gemini Model into Siri
Apple is reportedly planning to license Google’s advanced 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini artificial intelligence model to power a significantly upgraded version of its voice assistant, Siri, according to a report from Bloomberg. This follows a similar report from a few days ago.
This move signals a major strategic shift for Apple, which has historically prioritised in-house development for its core technologies. The potential integration of such a large-scale AI model from a key competitor suggests Apple is moving aggressively to address generative AI gaps and enhance Siri’s capabilities against rivals.
For years, Siri has faced criticism for lagging behind competitors in conversational ability and task complexity. By licensing Google’s high-powered Gemini model, Apple could substantially boost Siri’s ability to understand complex queries, maintain natural, fluid conversations, and perform a wider range of sophisticated, multi-step tasks.
