Music videos have long been a powerful tool for artists to connect with fans. From the iconic videos of the 1980s to today’s visually stunning productions, these mini-movies have helped shape popular culture and fan engagement.

Now, Spotify is aiming to enhance the artist-to-fan experience by offering music videos alongside its extensive music library. Moreover, premium users in eleven countries will be able to seamlessly switch between listening to a song and watching its music video, all within the Spotify app.

“So many times in my own experience and for countless others, music videos play a key role in hooking you: taking you from being a listener to leaning in and becoming a fan,” says Charlie Hellman, a Spotify executive. “They’re an important part of artists’ tool kits, and it’s a natural fit for them to live in the same place that more than half a billion people choose to listen to music.”

The beta launch includes a limited catalogue of music videos, featuring both global artists and local favourites. Users can watch these videos by selecting the “Switch to Video” toggle on supported music tracks. The video will then play from the beginning within the Spotify app.

This program is available in the U.K., Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Kenya. The company also aims to broaden its music video catalogue. Furthermore, they plan to extend this feature to more users in more countries later on.
