At MWC 2024, OPPO unveiled the prototype of its next-generation assisted reality glasses, the OPPO Air Glass 3. This smart device marks a significant leap forward in integrating AI experiences into everyday life.
OPPO Air Glass 3
The Air Glass 3 weighs a mere 50 grams, making it incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods. Its self-developed resin waveguide ensures a display experience close to regular glasses, while boasting a peak eye brightness of over 1,000 nits and over 50% display brightness uniformity. This translates to a clear, vibrant display even in bright environments.
The Air Glass 3 seamlessly integrates with OPPO’s AndesGPT AI model, accessible through the Air Glass app on a connected smartphone. Users can activate the AI voice assistant by simply tapping the temple of the glasses, allowing them to perform various tasks hands-free. Additionally, touch interaction enables control of functions like music playback, voice calls, and information display.
The Air Glass 3 features reverse sound field technology and an open acoustic design with four microphones. This combination effectively isolates surrounding noise, delivering high audio quality for calls and improved privacy protection.
OPPO’s Commitment to AI Innovation
The Air Glass 3 highlights OPPO’s dedication to advancing AI technology. The company recently established the OPPO AI Center to further R&D in AI and foster user-centric applications. Additionally, they released the AI Smartphone White Paper, outlining the future of AI-powered smartphones.
OPPO recognises the importance of collaboration in fostering a robust AI ecosystem. At MWC, they showcased their partnership with AlpsenTek and Qualcomm Technologies to develop the AI Motion algorithm. This technology utilizes data from both traditional RGB cameras and event vision sensors, enabling smartphones to capture high-quality slow-motion videos and enhance image clarity.
OPPO’s Continued Focus on User Experience
Beyond the Air Glass 3, OPPO displayed its commitment to user experience through various collaborations. At the Qualcomm Technologies and MediaTek booths, visitors experienced the AI Eraser feature on the OPPO Find X7 series. It showcased the powerful capabilities of AndesGPT. Additionally, OPPO announced their partnership with Microsoft. This partnership aims to enable users to utilize Microsoft Copilot on their smartphones for content creation and information retrieval.
