Since the start of 2021, there have been a ton of leaks surrounding the Pixel Buds A-Series, the cheaper variant of the Pixel Buds line. Google had tweeted about these buds a few months ago but they finally officially announced it yesterday.
The Pixel Buds A have launched at an affordable price of $99 which is almost $100 less when compared to the $179 Pixel Buds. The earphones have launched in the United States and Canada for now and are available for pre-order starting today. They will officially be released on June 17th and will be available in 3 colourways, olive green, white and grey.
According to Google, the buds will have the same sound quality as the higher end Pixel Buds and will also offer the Hey Google voice commands despite the lower price. However, the sacrifices are seen in the lack of wireless charging and the removal of the swipe volume controls but other than that, the Pixel Buds A are not that different from the more expensive Pixel Buds.
Google also claims that the buds will get you at least 5 hours of continuous use and an extra 24 hours with the case. The case also has quick charge capabilities which means you will be able to get an extra 3 hours of listening time with a 15 minute charge. Both the Pixel Buds A and the Pixel Buds look identical to each other but Google claims they have tweaked the design of the A-Series by making them slightly smaller and also softening the ear hooks. They also say that the Pixel Buds A are louder in overall volume and have better connectivity.
Google have a big year ahead of them in terms of hardware and have a lot to prove. Could this be the start of Google making decent products that appeal to the masses rather than just to the enthusiast?
