realme Rumoured to be Working On an 8,000mAh Battery Phone
realme is pushing the boundaries of smartphone battery technology with its upcoming flagship.
According to Digital Chat Station, realme is reportedly exploring the possibility of equipping its next-gen flagship, potentially the GT8 Pro, with a massive 8,000mAh battery. This ambitious undertaking, if realised, would significantly outpace the current battery capacities of top-tier smartphones from brands like Apple and Samsung.
A Trade-Off Between Capacity and Charging Speed
While the 8,000mAh battery promises exceptional longevity, it also brings about a trade-off in charging speed. realme is considering three potential configurations:
- 7,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging: A 42-minute full charge.
- 7,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging: A 55-minute full charge.
- 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging: A 70-minute full charge.
While the charging times might seem longer compared to the 120W+ charging speeds of some current flagships, it’s important to consider the massive battery capacities involved.
The Rise of Silicon-Based Batteries
The driving force behind these advancements, in particular, is the emergence of silicon-based battery technology. This innovative technology offers significantly higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, enabling manufacturers to pack more power into smaller spaces. realme’s GT7 Pro already showcases the potential of silicon-based batteries, and we can expect to see this technology become more widespread in the coming years.
