It’s been a while since we last saw the HONOR MagicBook X 16, but the wait is finally over. In addition to thew new HONOR X7b 5G, HONOR has refreshed their popular 16-inch laptop for the Malaysian market, bringing a more powerful processor at a competitive price point.

Specs breakdown
While the price is enticing, there’s a reason behind it. The MagicBook X 16 utilises a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, which isn’t the absolute latest on the market. However, it still packs a punch with its 8 cores and 12 threads. The 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD provide ample storage and smooth multitasking capabilities.
Design and Display
The laptop boasts a sleek design with an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy lid. The 16-inch IPS display offers an impressive 89% screen-to-body ratio and a 1920 x 1200p resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display has a maximum brightness of 300 nits. It also boasts TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification. Additionally, it covers 45% of the NTSC color gamut. This makes it suitable for everyday use and work.
Battery and Connectivity
HONOR claims the 42Wh battery can provide up to nine hours of local 1080p video playback. The included charger can bring the battery back to 53% in just 30 minutes. It’s perfect for those who need a quick power boost. In terms of connectivity, the MagicBook X 16 offers a good selection of ports. These include two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port (that doubles as the charging port), an HDMI 1.4b output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
For user convenience, the laptop boasts a full-sized keyboard with a numpad, a 720p webcam, stereo speakers, and support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity.

The new MagicBook X 16 is available in a single configuration. It features a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. This H-series chip provides a performance boost compared to the previous U-series processor. It’s an ideal choice for everyday tasks and multitasking. The price tag for this configuration is RM2,999, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious users.
