ASUS recently teased the upcoming ROG Ally X during a mid-week announcement. While details were scarce, a leak by @MysteryLupin has shed some light on the handheld gaming PC’s specifications and pricing.

Limited Configuration Options
Unlike the current ROG Ally, the ROG Ally X will reportedly only come in one configuration. This could streamline the buying process for consumers but also eliminate the option for customisation.
Familiar Yet Powerful Platform
As previously hinted at, the Ally X will retain the Ryzen Z1 platform found in the Lenovo Legion Go and the original ROG Ally. However, @MysteryLupin specifies that it will utilise the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, essentially a customised Ryzen 7 7840U processor. This aligns with ASUS’s goal of positioning the Ally X as a more powerful version of its predecessor.
Double the Storage, Same Display
The leak suggests the ROG Ally X will boast a 1 TB SSD, doubling the storage capacity of the existing ROG Ally models. Disappointingly, the display is expected to remain unchanged, offering a 7-inch 1080p panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Black Finish, Higher Price Tag
@MysteryLupin claims the Ally X will be available solely in black. This could potentially differentiate it visually from the standard ROG Ally but might also lead to comparisons with the MSI Clutch. The leak also points to a $799 (RM3,780) launch price, a $100 (RM400~) premium over the original ROG Ally.
Battery Life and RAM Improvements Expected
While not explicitly mentioned in the leak, ASUS has previously hinted at a larger battery and increased RAM as key improvements in the Ally X. These upgrades would likely contribute to the higher price tag.
The full reveal of the ROG Ally X is scheduled for June 2nd. With more information on the table thanks to this leak, gamers can now make a more informed decision about whether the upgraded specs and potential battery life improvements justify the ROG Ally X’s higher cost.
