Samsung Shatters Gaming Limits with World’s First 6K Glasses-Free 3D Monitor and 1,040Hz Display

Samsung has redefined the boundaries of visual display technology with the unveiling of its 2026 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup. The company introduces five groundbreaking models, headlined by the industry’s first 6K glasses-free 3D monitor and a display capable of a blistering 1,040Hz refresh rate.

The new collection aims to cement Samsung’s position as the global leader in the gaming monitor market, a spot it is on track to hold for the seventh consecutive year.

A New Dimension in Gaming: The Odyssey 3D

The centrepiece of the launch is the 32-inch Odyssey 3D (Model G90XH). This monitor represents a significant leap forward, offering a 6K resolution display that provides a 3D experience without requiring a headset.

The system uses real-time eye tracking to adjust depth and perspective according to the viewer’s position. This technology allows for a fluid, layered sense of dimension. The monitor features a 165Hz refresh rate, which can be boosted to 330Hz via Dual Mode, and maintains a 1ms Grey-to-Grey (GtG) response time.

Samsung has collaborated with major game studios to optimise titles for this new format. Games such as The First Berserker: Khazan, Lies of P: Overture, and Stellar Blade will feature enhanced terrain and object separation, offering players a level of immersion previously unavailable in standard 2D formats.

For competitive gamers who prioritise speed above all else, Samsung introduced the Odyssey G6 (Model G60H). This 27-inch monitor is the world’s first to offer a 1,040Hz refresh rate when using Dual Mode in HD resolution.

Even in its native QHD resolution, the monitor supports up to 600Hz. This extreme speed is designed to provide esports-level motion clarity, helping players track fast-moving targets with precision. The G6 supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and is NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, ensuring tear-free performance.

High-Resolution Versatility: The Odyssey G8 Series

Expanding its high-resolution offerings, Samsung also debuted three new models in the Odyssey G8 series:

  • Odyssey G8 (G80HS): A 32-inch industry-first 6K gaming monitor with a native 165Hz refresh rate (boostable to 330Hz in 3K mode).
  • Odyssey G8 (G80HF): A 27-inch 5K monitor offering a native 180Hz refresh rate (boostable to 360Hz in QHD).
  • Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH): A 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor featuring a 240Hz refresh rate, “True Black 500” certification, and Glare Free technology.

The OLED model specifically targets users seeking deep contrast and cinematic visuals, supporting DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) with a bandwidth of up to 80 Gbps.

Market Leadership and Availability

According to recent IDC data, Samsung holds an 18.8% revenue share in the global gaming monitor market for refresh rates above 144Hz. The company expects this new lineup to help maintain its number one ranking.

Folks will get their first hands-on look at the full 2026 Odyssey lineup at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, scheduled for January 6 through 9.
