Samsung’s foldable smartphone the Galaxy Fold has a September launch date

After three months of silence, Samsung’s first foldable smartphone is finally back on track for a launch in September.

It has been a long while since we had last seen the Galaxy Fold mainly due to the questionable durability of the earlier model that many reviewers found not up to standard.

Samsung has released a statement detailing how it has improved the Galaxy Fold this time around.

Firstly, the company stated that the protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel to make it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and is not meant to be removed.

Secondly, the Galaxy Fold now has additional reinforcements to protect the device from external particles while retaining its ability to fold.

Also, the top and bottom hinges have been strengthened with new protection caps. There are also metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display to reinforce the protection of the display.

Thus, far everything sounds good as Samsung has learned from the mistakes of the first version as it took the feedback reviewers gave and acted to improve upon the design of the device.

That being said, the Galaxy Fold remains a very expensive smartphone that will not likely make it into the hands of your average user. Still, we can’t help but cheer Samsung on as it gets its act together for an exciting launch this coming September.
