Rumours Point to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Launching April 2025 with Near-Flagship Power
Qualcomm is rumoured to be preparing a new chip, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, with a potential launch in April 2025. This unconfirmed SoC is expected to offer performance close to flagship levels, but its official name remains uncertain.
Sources suggest the chip, sometimes referred to as the “Snapdragon 8s Elite” in early discussions, will be a slightly less powerful version of Qualcomm’s top-tier offerings. Leaks from Digital Chat Station indicate a possible octa-core design (1+3+2+2) featuring a Cortex-X4 core at 3.21 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 3.01 GHz, two more A720 cores at 2.80 GHz, and two efficiency cores at 2.02 GHz.
The graphics are rumoured to be handled by the Adreno 825 GPU, a less powerful variant of the Adreno 830. Despite this, early reports hint at strong performance, with potential AnTuTu scores exceeding 2 million. The chip may also include 6MB of SLC and 8MB of L3 cache for improved speed.
Several smartphone manufacturers are rumoured to be early adopters. For instance, the iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro and Redmi Turbo 4 Pro are likely candidates, with the latter potentially rebranding globally as the Poco F7. Additionally, Xiaomi’s Civi 5 Pro and Oppo’s K13 Pro are also speculated to utilise this chip.
Qualcomm has not officially announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. All information available is based on rumors and leaks. If these reports are accurate, a powerful new chip could arrive in April 2025. It may be positioned just below the flagship tier. However, its final name and market impact are still unconfirmed.
