The latest iPod Touch is now available in Malaysia

It was the iPod update that nobody expected or demanded yet here we are with the 7th generation iPod Touch. Considering that Apple didn’t update the iPod Touch for nearly four years, this addition is a bit of a shocker.

Getting down to business, this new and improved iPod Touch looks very much identical to its predecessor though it has the newer A10 processor like on the iPhone 7. That particular model is to date the oldest and cheapest iPhone, so that spec sheet isn’t Earth-shattering.

Though the processor isn’t the latest, you can come to expect it to run quickly and be totally usable for everyday use. It runs on iOS 12 with an update to iOS 13 sometime later this year.

You get a 4-inch display on the iPod Touch, which isn’t very big and a little small by modern standards. Also, this model lacks other modern features like biometric security and swipe gestures, so it may be time to brush your memory on how devices of yesteryear functioned before.

While the internals isn’t anything to shout about, the one thing going for the iPod touch is its slimmer and lighter body compared to the iPhone.

So who is the iPod Touch for? Well, it is a solid entry-level device for non-Apple users who are curious about the walled garden of Apple. This may not be for the performance seeker but should be suitable as a first device for children who are not ready to own a phone.

So yes, the iPod Touch is sort of like the gateway into the Apple ecosystem for non-users so to speak but does it really have any relevance in this day and age?

The 7th Generation iPod Touch will be available in 6 colours: Pink, Silver, Space Gray, Gold, Blue and (PRODUCT) RED.

Regardless, you can grab the latest iPod Touch from the Apple Malaysia website with prices starting from RM899 for the 32GB model and runs up to RM1,799 for the 256GB model.
