The New Nothing Phone (2a) Is All But Confirmed Now

Nothing has confirmed what we’ve all been speculating for a while now, the Nothing Phone (2a) is coming. The upcoming smartphone was announced during a community update video last night.

Nothing Phone (2a) is on the way

Remember the cryptic Pokémon tweets that Nothing CEO, Carl Pei, posted a while back? Everyone pretty much thought that a collaboration between the brand and everyone’s favourite pocket monster franchise is on the horizon. Turns out that really isn’t the case and that the name Aerodactyl was nothing more than just a codename for the Nothing Phone (2a). A for Aerodactyl. Genius.

Nothing Phone (2a) Name Annoucement

Nothing is tight-lipped about the specs, leaving us to speculate. However, they’ve hinted that the upcoming Nothing Phone will “leverage some of the most loved features” from the Phone (2) while offering a clear upgrade over the Phone (1) in every aspect.

We’re not sure when exactly the Nothing Phone (2a) will launch, we do know that the device will certainly release in Malaysia sometime soon. The recent discovery of the device’s SIRIM certification is proof of that. Furthermore, the community update also saw Nothing introducing their Glyph Developer Kit. The kit will allow 3rd party app developers to utilise the brand’s signature Glyph Interface and add their own lighting effects.
