U Mobile Boosts 5G Plans with TIME Partnership
U Mobile has announced a strategic partnership with TIME dotCom to accelerate the deployment of its second 5G network in anticipation of the government’s dual network model.
Under the agreement, U Mobile will leverage TIME’s extensive fibre backhaul network to support its 5G rollout. This collaboration is expected to enhance U Mobile’s ability to deliver a superior 5G experience characterised by high reliability, massive capacity, and ultra-fast speeds.
Both companies will work closely to optimise network compatibility and performance, benefiting consumers, enterprises, and the public sector.
“By leveraging TIME’s robust fibre backhaul network, we can expedite 5G coverage across Malaysia while ensuring high availability, resiliency, low latency, and high bandwidth,” said Woon Ooi Yuen, CTO of U Mobile. “These network characteristics are essential for enabling reliable automation and IoT applications across various industries.”
This partnership builds upon U Mobile’s existing collaboration with TIME, where the latter’s fibre infrastructure supports the expansion of U Mobile’s U Home Fibre product to over one million homes, primarily in high-rise buildings along the Western coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
