This is wild! 200 megapixel on a phone at this price, not on a flagship, but on this vivo V70 FE. And if you think that 200 megapixel is just a spec sheet flex, wait till you see what other surprises that this phone has. So, watch first and buy smart.

DESIGN
All right, let’s look at how this phone looks and feels because FE does not stand for what you think. It stands for Fashion Edition. And honestly, vivo is not playing around with that name because the Muse Purple colorway has this gradient finish that shifts with light. So, it has a very unique contour to the phone. And yes, this was very intentional because the layered multi-precision coating to get this particular effect.

The lower right corner has this very unique flowing petal-like texture. So, while I don’t usually put so much effort talking about the phone’s finish since vivo put so much of effort and thought into this, I thought that it was really worth mentioning.

Speaking of which, there are three colors available. The one which I have is of course the Muse Purple and there’s also in Ocean Blue and Urban Silver.

The camera module is vertically stacked which looks very compact and clean and there’s the Dynamic Ring around the camera sensor which adds a premium feel without adding any sort of bulk.

Speaking of bulk or the lack of it, there’s even a massive 7,000 mAh of BlueVolt battery inside, which I’ll get into later. But what’s even crazier is the fact that this phone is only 7.5 mm thin, and that is thinner than a lot of phones that only have 5,000 mAh. And yes, I’m talking about the flagship S26 Ultra or even the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Then, as for the phone’s bezels, the bottom bezels is at 1.86 mm. That gives you a screen-to-body ratio of 94.4%. Now for context, that’s slimmer bezels than the Samsung A56, the OPPO Reno15 F, and even the iPhone 16.

Then there’s also a super cool Flip Cards feature on the lock screen as well, where it uses the gyroscope on the phone. When you tilt the phone, the wallpaper flips between the two different images. Quite fun.

DISPLAY
Next, the display is a 1.5K Ultra-Clear AMOLED display with 449 PPI and 120Hz refresh rate with 1900 nits of HBM brightness. Now, if you’re not familiar with these terms, firstly, 449 PPI means that individual pixels are basically invisible to the naked eye. So, it has smooth gradients and no color banding.

Of course, 1900 nits is perfect if you’re in the Malaysian sun at noon or any other country with a very bright sunny day. So with that, you can still read your screen without putting your hand over, like you’re saluting the phone.

And 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel very buttery and gaming feels responsive. And also worth mentioning is that there’s also HDR10+ support.
So yeah, with all of that mentioned, for this price, the display surely feels above its class.
PERFORMANCE
But all of this only makes perfect sense if the performance matches the looks, right? Well, it comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo Mobile Platform, which is a 4nm chip with 8 cores. It also has LPDDR5 RAM, so that’s a 50% speed upgrade over the previous generation. And paired this with the UFS 3.1 storage, that means that apps open faster, games load faster, and multitasking does not choke.

And if you’re someone who games hard, vivo has included a 4120mm² Ultra Large VC Smart Cooling System with a total cooling area up to 44% over the previous generation. So that’s a proper sustain performance without the phone becoming a hand warmer.

But there’s one underrated thing that a lot of phones, especially this particular variant or this mid-range market, struggles with, which is of course the connectivity. Because at the end of the day, this is still a phone, right? You need to use it to make phone calls.
Well, this has a 360° Omnidirectional Antenna Design. So, signal coverage has improved by about 100% over the previous generation. Yes, 100%. So whether or not you’re in downtown Kuala Lumpur or somewhere in a kampung area with spotty coverage, this phone handles it very well.

CAMERA
But the main event as usual would be the cameras because it comes with a 200MP OIS Ultra-Clear main camera. It is using the Samsung HP5 large sensor which is a 1/1.56” flagship grade large sensor. Now, for comparison, the light sensitivity area is about 1.56x larger than the vivo V60 Lite with 42% more light intake. This means that more lights equals cleaner shots.

The OIS is vivo’s self-developed system because it hits the CIPA 4.0 Ultra Stabilization. Now just so you know that CIPA stands for Camera & Imaging Products Association.

So, the video footage is showing a professional level shake compensation. Even if your hands aren’t steady, the video and the photo on this truly is. (video footage on YouTube video)

Then there’s even a dedicated 200MP mode. But of course, you don’t always leave it on all the time. The best time is to turn this on when you’re outdoors in a very good light. And when you do, you can actually crop up that particular photo in high clarity at 900% enlargement and still look sharp. So that’s the 200MP sensor doing its job.

It also has the Ultra-Clear Imaging Engine processes images using a RAW-domain algorithm, multi-frame fusion with intelligent noise removal. Hence, it has very grain-free magnification even at extreme zoom.

Speaking of zoom, the max zoom is up to 30x super zoom and the AI telephoto enhancement kicks in from 10x zoom and above. Now, keep in mind that this also requires a very stable internet connection where the clarity improvement becomes very real from here.

Then there’s the multi-portrait mode which has four focal lengths 23mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm close-up portrait.

Just like the elder sibling, the vivo V70, which I’ve done a review on that, so check that review out in case you haven’t done so.
The 85mm close-up portrait is truly a game-changer for traveling shots with a very pleasing telephoto compression where the subject pops and the background almost melts very nicely, getting those cinematic shots without even trying.

Then there’s the 8MP 120° wide-angle lens camera, which is perfect for landscape and architecture.

Then the selfie camera is a 32MP HD selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture value. Now this has a 90° angle which is wider than the previous generation. So you can actually move more into the frame without going full hand-stretch arm mode.

And of course if you’re into it, there’s also the AI UHD 2.0 that sharpens portrait details on the front camera, too.

But there are also other AI features that are worth highlighting. First and foremost, there’s the AI Magic Weather that replaces the sky in your photo with just one tap. You can find it in the camera app which includes Morning glow, Clear sky, Evening glow or Twilight where you can find it directly in the Portrait Mode once again in the camera app.

Over here, you can also remove passersby automatically. This particular AI feature is perfect especially if you are traveling a lot when the weather is rubbish or the crowd is ruining every single shot.

Then there’s also the AI Magic Landscape which switches the scene to an island, desert, or even Snowy Town theme where the AI generates the backdrop. Now, this sounds gimmicky, but it actually looks good.

Then there’s also this Super Motion Snapshot, which is perfect for shooting kids and pets, tracks faces and eyes, and locks fast. It captures the moment that you press the shutter without any blurry issues.

Next is the Film Camera Mode 3.0. Now, just like before, this version has a Peel-Apart Film style that simulates the feel of peeling an instant film. You can hear it and the phone even develops before you, which is a very nice nostalgic memory.

Speaking of video, while the ultra wide camera records up to 1080p, but the main camera and the front camera records up to 4K where there’s a dual OIS and EIS stabilization.

Then finally, there’s a dedicated Underwater Photography Mode because yes, this vivo V70 FE is IP68 and IP69 top-rated dust and water resistant. Now, since I do not know how to swim, I didn’t get to test that, but yeah, it apparently works very well.
BATTERY
As mentioned, this has the largest battery ever in a V series. 7,000 mAh of BlueVolt battery. Yep, seven freaking thousand for a phone within this price range. Now, vivo’s internal testing puts it at about 43.8 hours of continuous YouTube playback.

But what’s extra sweet as usual is that there’s a 90W FlashCharge in the box where it will give you from 0% to 100% in 60 minutes flat.

However, among all, what’s interesting is that Bypass charging kicks in at 20%. So, what it does is that it routes the current away from the battery when you’re gaming while plugged in. Hence, this reduces heat and of course extends the battery lifespan. On top of that, there’s also a 5-year battery health guarantee. So, it’s meant to hold up that freaking long.

Even if you turn on the Super Battery Saver mode at 5% battery, it can still get you about 21.6 hours of standby. So, that is more than enough for you to get home without being panicky.
SOFTWARE
Then as for software, this vivo V70 FE runs on OriginOS 6 and vivo has promised 4 years of major OS updates and 6 years of security patches. Now that’s long-term support taken seriously for a phone within this particular price range.

The Origin Island is still the best rendition of what it is. Other than showing the live updates, food delivery status, and the music playback, there are more thoughtful copy and paste features between apps.

Or you can even long press content, drag it into the Origin Island and it figures out which app to open. Like say if you drag a phone number, it opens the dialer. Or if you drag a photo, it opens a sharing app. So that was really smart.
Then there’s also the AI Captions for real-time transcriptions and translations during phone calls, meetings, and even video playback. It supports 20 languages including Malay and English. And this is honestly very useful if you’re on a lot of Zoom calls or watch content in other languages.

Finally, there’s the Private Space is like using one phone but two isolated systems where you need to use a fingerprint or password to enter. This is good for separating work from personal or just keeping certain things personal, especially if you’re like me who tends to leave my phone unguarded right after I use.

VERDICT
So, who is this vivo V70 FE for? Now, if you want the best camera at this particular price point, starting from only RM1,599 or USD 396, a massive battery, one of the best-in-class displays, and of course, a very unique design, then yes, this vivo V70 FE is a very easy recommendation.
