PlayStation just showed off a bunch of new games during their State of Play January 2024 showcase this morning. There were a number of high profile games presented at the showcase. These include Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding sequel, a new Silent Hill game, a new Metro and even remastered Until Dawn and Sonic Generations.
Here’s pretty much everything that was announced during PlayStation State of Play January 2024.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

The showcase saw the announcement of a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding which is now titled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. The game’s trailer was a lengthy one but in it saw the return of both Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux. The trailer also shows us Troy Baker’s return wielding a super cool rail gun/electric guitar hybrid weapon in combat. You can also see Elle Fanning in the trailer as well as a surprise appearance by legendary Australian director, George Miller. He is best known for the “Mad Max” franchise and “Happy Feet”.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is slated to release in 2025.
Hideo Kojima announces PHYSINT; a new action-espionage game

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is not the only Hideo Kojima-related news to come out from PlayStation State of Play January 2024. The gaming legend also announced that he is returning to the action-espionage genre. Together with Hermen Hulst, the Head of PlayStation Studios, Kojima announced that Physint will feature state of the art technology. In true Kojima fashion, Physint will be pushing boundaries of gaming by being a blend of both an interactive game and a movie at the same time.
Silent Hill 2 Remake

The gameplay trailer for the long awaited Silent Hill 2 remake was also announced during the showcase. The trailer saw game protagonist, James Sunderland go off against classic enemies and explore familiar locales. Development of the remake is handled by Bloober Team, known for horror game “Layers of Fear”. Unfortunately, the remake is still in development with no release window given.
Silent Hill: The Short Message

Hot on the heels of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami also announced a new franchise spin-off called Silent Hill: The Short Message. The game is a first-person survival horror game centring around new protagonist, Maya. The trailer shows Maya trying to discover a way out of mysterious house while being chased by some sort of monster. Best part is that, you can download the game on your PS5 right now and it’s completely free.
Until Dawn Remaster

PlayStation State of Play January 2024 saw the announcement of a new Until Dawn remaster. The remaster is spearheaded by Ballistic Moon and is said to be rebuilt and enhanced from the original. The remastered Until Dawn will arrive on PS5 and PC later this year.
Judas

Judas is the latest game from developer, Ken Levine, known for making the beloved BioShock franchise. The game is a spiritual successor to BioShock a to how BioShock is a a spiritual successor to System Shock. The trailer shows what you can expect in terms of gameplay and if you’re familiar with BioShock then this will look very familiar to you. The game is still in development, sadly, with no obvious release date.
Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a sequel to Capcom’s original high fantasy hack-and-slash game that first came in 2012. The long-awaited sequel will be an open world game and will see the adventure of the game protagonist called the “Arisen”. The trailer features combat with dragons and other fantastical creatures and enemies. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to release in March 2024.
Sonic x Shadow Generations

PlayStation State of Play January 2024 also saw the announcement of Sonic x Shadows Generations. Sonic x Shadow Generations is an enhanced remake of Sonic Generations with new gameplay featuring Shadow. The trailer starts off with Sonic going a level from the game looks like it was ripped straight from the 2011 original. The trailer then moves to Shadow and showcases gameplay featuring the edgy hedgehog. The game will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X & S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this Autumn.
Metro Awakening

Metro Awakening is a brand new addition to the popular Metro franchise. This time the game will be a virtual reality game and is set before the events of Metro 2033. In it you’ll be playing as a doctor named Serdar, exploring the dangerous tunnels of the Metro world in search for his wife. Metro Awakening is set to come out sometime this year.
