These juicy details come from a Spanish outlet, Vandal, and are backed up by Mobapad, a third-party Switch accessory maker. They say the Switch 2 will abandon the current Joy-Con rail system. Instead, it will opt for larger controllers that attach magnetically. The rumours also suggest metal buttons and an extra button on each controller, with HD rumble still included.

Of course, Nintendo hasn’t officially announced the Switch 2, so these are just rumours. But if they hold true, it sounds like gamers will be able to use their existing Joy-Cons, Pro Controllers, and Switch games on the new console. Backwards compatibility would be a big win for fans, but it’s unclear how the old Joy-Cons would work with the new magnetic system.

Mobapad also claims the Switch 2 will stick with USB-C connectivity and feature a slightly redesigned dock with 4K output. They mention an adjustable “damping bracket” on the back of the dock, which might refer to the console’s kickstand. The screen is rumoured to be eight inches with 1080p resolution.

Remember, It’s All Speculation for Now

Remember, these are just rumours, so take them with a grain of salt until Nintendo makes an official announcement. In the meantime, you can check out other articles for more on what we know and what we hope to see from the upcoming Switch 2.
