MediaTek’s Next Flagship SoC, the Dimensity 9500, to Launch on September 22
MediaTek is set to debut its next-generation flagship mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9500 SoC, in China on September 22, the company announced in a post on Weibo. The launch comes just one day ahead of rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 announcement, intensifying the competition in the high-end smartphone market.
The new SoC is expected to feature a 1+3+4 CPU core configuration. Leaked reports suggest the chipset will include a single high-performance “Travis” core clocked at 4.21GHz, three “Alto” cores at 3.5GHz, and four “Gelas” efficiency cores at 2.7GHz.
In addition to the powerful CPU, the Dimensity 9500 is rumoured to be a gaming powerhouse. It is said to incorporate a Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU, which could bring enhanced ray tracing capabilities and achieve frame rates exceeding 100 fps. The chipset will also likely support advanced LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage for faster data transfer speeds.
The first devices to be powered by the new Dimensity 9500 are anticipated to launch in the coming weeks, in October.
