vivo Expands Beyond Smartphones With Reported Vlog Camera Project
TL;DR: vivo is reportedly developing its first dedicated vlog camera for a 2026 launch. The device is positioned to compete directly with DJI’s Osmo Pocket.
vivo is reportedly preparing its first standalone camera product, signalling a major expansion beyond smartphones. According to a report from Jiemian News, the company has confirmed internally that it is developing a dedicated vlog camera designed to directly compete with DJI’s Osmo Pocket series.

The project is reportedly being initiated internally at the end of 2025 and is currently scheduled for a 2026 launch. While the final product name has yet to be decided, the direction appears clear. vivo is targeting creators, vloggers, and photography enthusiasts who want a compact, stabilised camera with a simpler shooting workflow than smartphones or action cameras can offer.
The device is expected to sit firmly in the pocket-sized handheld gimbal camera category, a segment currently dominated by DJI. The company’s approach reportedly focuses on smooth video capture, portability, and ease of use, rather than positioning the product as a traditional action camera.
According to the report, vivo has assembled a dedicated development team of nearly 100 people to work on the camera. The move aligns with the company’s long-standing investment in imaging and stabilisation technologies, including the micro-gimbal systems and advanced video stabilisation previously seen in its smartphones.
