I flew to Beijing for a tech event and honestly, I thought it would be a typical brand launch. Sit in a fancy room, listen to some presentation, take some photos, and fly home. 

But what I walked into was nothing like that because DeRUCCI didn’t just launch a mattress; they built an entire world around sleep. And somewhere in the middle of it all, I laid down on it and I didn’t want to get up. 

This is the DeRUCCI T11+ AI Smart Mattress. And by the end of this article, you’ll understand why a mattress made me emotional in Beijing and why you should get it.

Sleep is the Foundation of Everything

So, you know the stress of modern life, the fact that many of us are running on empty fuel. And for me, I’m a new dad and I have a baby boy at home. And you know what broken sleep does to you? I live it. 

And DeRUCCI’s whole message was: sleep isn’t a luxury, but sleep is the foundation of everything. That is not just a tagline. That’s 20 years of conviction from a brand that has been obsessing over this since before it was cool.

But this mattress just knows your heart rate, your respiration rate, without you doing a single thing. Just lie down, go to sleep, and done.

The Tech

But the monitoring is just the beginning because here’s where the DeRUCCI T11+ goes from impressive to genuinely crazy because it scans your body in 20 milliseconds and then it matches the data in 40 milliseconds, and within 120 seconds, it has already adjusted the mattress firmness to fit your body. All with you just lying there without you feeling a thing. 

But all of this makes sense if the adjustment is not as loud as a vacuum cleaner or a super old school hairdryer, right? Well, the great thing is that the motor runs under 28 decibels and that is quieter than your air con in sleep mode, which is very crazy to know. 

Then the firmness adjustment isn’t a one-size-fits-all because the T11+ has a five-zone system for your shoulders, your back, your lumbar, and also your hips and legs. 

So, when you flip from sleeping from your back to your side, the mattress detects the position change and adjusts in real time. Because back sleeping usually needs a firmer lumbar support and side sleeping needs a softer shoulder relief. So the mattress knows the difference and it handles it automatically.

And for couples, this is massive. Why? Because your side and your partner’s side is completely independent. So no more arguing about who gets the firm mattress and who gets the soft one. Trust me, I live with that.

on top of that, DeRUCCI has even collaborated with HUAWEI on the smart home integration, but for now it’s only for the Chinese market, but who knows? Hopefully, it will be available globally, too.

The T11+ Experience

But the T11+ isn’t just a smart mattress because this mattress grows with you. So if your body changes after pregnancy, it adapts. Weight shifts over the years, it adapts. Or if you started bulking in a gym to get some massive gains, it also adapts. 

So you don’t have to replace it because your body has changed. And that is a completely different way of thinking of what a mattress is because it’s not a furniture. It’s a long-term health investment. 

But from a safety standpoint, which I know a lot of people are wondering about this, the whole system runs on a 24 volts ultra low voltage and the control box sits at the foot of the bed away from the head. 

So it emits less radiation than your mobile phone and it uses about 0.3 kilowatt hours for a full 8 hour night which is less than your TV on standby. You know, sleep with a TV on, you know who you are. 

Then every morning it generates a full sleep report which is accessible on the DeRUCCI AI app which is available both for Android and iOS devices where it gives you sleep efficiency, insomnia assessment, heart rate alerts if something looks totally off all pushed into your phone or even your tablet.

And honestly, I’m glad to try it in Beijing because it completely changes the experience. It has a stepless adjustment both for the back and legs from 0 all the way to 65 degrees for the back and 0 to 45 degrees for the leg. 

Now, as a person who recovered from leg surgery, if you know me long enough, you know I went through that because this helps to elevate my legs better than typically putting a pillow underneath my legs.

Verdict

So, would I recommend the DeRUCCI T11+? Well, here’s the thing. I went to Beijing a little skeptical, but I came back as a proper believer. 

So, if you take your sleep seriously or honestly, if you know you should be taking your sleep more seriously, this is the most thoughtful and most technically advanced sleep system I’ve ever seen and probably something that you have ever seen before this. 

It has MIT-backed research, device certification, and most importantly, a brand with 22 years of genuine conviction.
