iRobot Roomba i7+ & Braava Jet m6: The Perfect Duo of Robotic Vacuum Cleaner & Mop For 2021!

As a Tech YouTuber, I constantly have packages arriving for me to review and they usually start to accumulate and start collecting dust, making my nearly all-white furniture studio at home pretty dusty and dirty.

And with a majority of carpet flooring in the studio, it’s REALLY hard to see the dust, but yes it IS there, which I just HATE the thought of that. So how exactly do I keep the studio and my home clean all the time, especially with this whole work-from-home situation?

Well, that is where these two iRobot vacuums come in – the iRobot Roomba i7+ and the iRobot Braava Jet m6 and here are the top features.

iRobot Roomba i7+

Let’s start with the Roomba i7+.

Well, the main feature is, of course, the fact that it cleans up after you and after itself, because not only it goes back to the charging base but also it has an automatic dirt disposal system which means that it can empty out its own bin for up to 60 days or 30 full bins without me needing to get my hands dirty with the clean base when emptying the bin when it is full. And love how the bin is also easily washable as well.

This is honestly really useful for me as I do not really have the time daily to clean out the dust and dirt it has collected.

And that was something which I really didn’t like about other robot vacuums as even though I could turn it on remotely, I always wonder if I cleaned the bin just before starting the robot remotely and I ended up not even starting the robot vacuum at all.

So with the dirt detecting sensor, it cleans the area thoroughly and if it detects that a certain spot has more dirt, it will clean that spot several times to ensure that area is clean.

Now speaking of sensors, I don’t live in a two-story house or even a duplex, but what’s cool that you should know is that there is the Dual Beam Cliff Sensors that can avoid running over staircases, and this sensor also acts as a better cleaning sensor on darker surfaces such as dark carpets.

In addition to that, there is also a feature that cannot be found on other vacuums, which is a Dual-Multi Surface Rubber Brush which also uses the Aeroforce Performance Cleaning System. This was pretty cool because the twin brushes will concentrate the airflow, multiply the suction power, and the best part of all it is tangle-free as well.

What I also love about the Roomba i7+ is that it has a soft touch bumper so it can clean really close to the edges and corners, which is honestly really useful because I find that those are the areas where a lot of dust and dirt accumulates.

Another really cool thing is the Virtual Wall Barrier to have specific “Keep Out” areas on which I don’t want the Rooba 17+ to go.

So in my studio, there are areas with a lot of wires and equipment. If the Roomba i7+ were to go there, it could bring down a lot of my lights or get tangled in the wires.

So the virtual wall allows me to manage where I want and do not want the Roomba to clean by using the Wall mode and Halo mode and the vacuum can also learn and adapt to my place so that it knows exactly where it needs to go.

So, I have a room that is dedicated to certain product shots, with a green screen and a couple of backdrops, and the room could be at times just filled with Tripods and some camera gear on the carpet, where I would prefer not to clean at times.

And here is where the imprint smart mapping learns, creates and maps each room, for me to just tell the Roomba i7+ to go to only clean specific rooms or to ignore the room altogether, where it can remember up to 10 maps and it can clean for up to 75 minutes of total runtime

Braava Jet m6

Okie, so moving on to the other iRobot product I use, which is the Braava Jet m6.

Now the Braava Jet series are dedicated machines which have similar technology to the Braava Jet m6 but that are used only for mopping and dry sweeping but not on the vacuuming side.

But, you might then ask me: “But Adam, there are other robot vacuums out there that do both vacuuming and mopping right?” Well, have you heard of the term, the Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None?

Because I find that sometimes these 2-in-1 systems, while they would do an excellent job on the vacuuming bit, they don’t really perform as good on the mopping side of things.

This is where the Braava Jet m6 is just flawless with that on hard floors, especially with the Precision Jet Spray, which again something other mopping robots doesn’t have which helps to really get rid of the tough stains.

And the best thing is that The Braava Jet m6 is a mop that communicates with my Roomba i7+ through the Imprint Link Technology. So when the Roomba is done with the vacuum, it will tell the Braava to come and mop the floor without you EVEN needing to do anything!

The Braava can mop up to 400 square feet and 1000 square feet of dry sweeping which is honestly a good range for my home since I don’t have hard flooring in the studio.

You can also pick between single or washable pads and iRobot uses a specially formulated cleaning solution for the Braava.

Similar to the Roomba, it has the smart mapping feature so it knows where to clean and adapts to your home, and another useful feature is the jet spray which has honestly helped clean the floor much better than I could have ever done.

iRobot Home App

So how exactly do you connect and talk to these two robots? Well, there is an iRobot Home App that connects you to these devices. This app in my experience has been one of the better-designed apps as everything is easy to understand and it is easy to navigate through.

In the app, you can control multiple things which include the areas you want your devices to access and the areas you do not want them to. You can also target certain areas to be cleaned if you do not want the entire place cleaned and just one specific area.

But probably the best feature on the app is the cleaning routine feature. So through the app, I can actually create different routines and different schedules.

This has been useful to me as I am always on the go, so with one click through the app, I can just trigger the vacuum without having to manually do it on the device itself.

And also worth mentioning is that if both the Roomba i7+ and Braava Jet m6’s battery runs low, it will return to home base to recharge and resume from the spot they stopped cleaning just now. The iRobots can remember where their last spot is before charging.

Smart Home Control

Now if you saw my home tour released a few months ago (Video Link: https://youtu.be/xX55bwe-M4k), you would know that I am indeed a huge fan of smart home devices and what’s extra sweet is that I can control both the Roomba i7+ and the Braava Jet m6 with my voice just by saying commands like “Turn on Roomba i7+” or “Send Roomba i7+ to the dock” – Cool huh?

And yes this is also done and linked with the iRobot Home App together with either Amazon Echo or Google Assistant, depending on which smart home ecosystem that you have.

.
