Disappointment stings Spider-Man fans as a leaked trailer showcases the cancelled multiplayer game, Spider-Man: The Great Web. This comes after a data breach at Insomniac Games revealed the project’s existence months ago.
Spider-Man: The Great Web trailer leaked
The short trailer, first posted by insomniacleaks on Reddit, offers a glimpse into what could have been. We see a polished, five-player co-op experience set in a New York City teeming with web-slinging heroes.
The Great Web takes inspiration from the multiverse, with Scarlet Witch supposedly causing a tear in reality. Players would have teamed up to combat the notorious Sinister Six across various dimensions. The trailer even hints at character customization, allowing gamers to create their own unique Spider-powered heroes.
Bringing the trailer to life is Yuri Lowenthal, the voice of Peter Parker. His narration paints a picture of a seasoned Spider-Man realizing he needs help. “Sometimes you can swing it as a lone wolf,” he says, “but you’re way better off with some friends.” The trailer concludes with a rallying cry: “I don’t think I’m going to be enough this time, guys. But together, we just might be.”
While leaked images of The Great Web surfaced a few months prior, this trailer offers the first look at gameplay. Its polish suggests the project could have been released imminently. This cancellation undoubtedly leaves Spider-Man fans heartbroken, yearning for a game that might never see the light of day.
