Xiaomi Redmi A7 Pro Debuts with Massive 6.9-Inch Display and 6,000mAh Battery
TL;DR: Xiaomi just released the Redmi A7 Pro in select markets like Indonesia. The budget smartphone packs a huge 6.9-inch display, a 6,000mAh battery, and runs on full Android 16, though a Malaysian release date remains unknown.
Xiaomi has quietly released its newest affordable smartphone, the Redmi A7 Pro. The device is currently available in Indonesia, bringing several notable upgrades to the entry-level segment. At the time of writing, Xiaomi has not confirmed if or when the smartphone will make its way to the Malaysian market.
While the new device shares many similarities with the Redmi A5 and Poco C71, it stands out by running a full version of Android 16 with HyperOS 3, rather than the lighter Android Go Edition. Under the hood, the A7 Pro is powered by the 12nm Unisoc T7250 chipset. It is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which is somewhat modest for running a full-fat Android operating system. Buyers can choose between 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and there is a dedicated microSD slot to expand memory affordably.

One of the main selling points of the Redmi A7 Pro is its massive 6.9-inch LCD screen. Although the resolution is capped at 720 x 1,600 pixels, it supports DC dimming and can reach up to 800 nits in High Brightness Mode. While the phone lacks an official water resistance rating, the touchscreen is designed to work even with wet fingers.

To keep the large screen powered, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with a generous 6,000mAh battery. According to official statistics, this capacity is enough to provide nearly two and a half days of regular use. On a single charge, users can expect up to 35 hours of continuous video playback or up to 77 hours of music listening. The battery supports standard 15W charging and is rated to retain its health for 1,000 charge cycles.
In terms of photography, the device keeps things simple with a 13MP main camera on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. Both cameras can record 1080p video at 30fps. The phone also includes fan-favourite features like a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. Connectivity options include dual standby 4G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2, though it does lack NFC.
The Redmi A7 Pro measures 171.6 x 79.5 x 8.15mm, weighs 208g, and comes in Black, Mist Blue, Palm Green, and Sunset Orange. In Indonesia, the phone is priced at IDR 1,650,000 (approximately RM 391) for the 64GB unit and IDR 1,800,000 (approximately RM 426) for the 128GB upgrade. As an added bonus, Xiaomi is throwing in two free months of Spotify Premium with the device.
