Redmi Redefines “Flagship Killer” with Redmi K90 Pro Max Debut
Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has once again shaken up the smartphone market with the launch of the Redmi K90 Pro Max in China. The device, which marks the return of the “Pro Max” moniker to the series, is packed with cutting-edge specifications that challenge premium flagships at a competitive price point.
The new device is one of the first to feature Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, positioning it at the pinnacle of performance.
However, the headline-grabbing feature is its revolutionary audio system. The Redmi K90 Pro Max boasts a Bose-tuned 2.1 channel speaker setup, a rarity in the mobile space. This system includes standard top and bottom-firing speakers complemented by an independent woofer integrated into the phone’s back, promising class-leading bass and rich, detailed sound.
The Redmi K90 Pro Max also impresses in its camera department, opting for a powerful and versatile triple 50MP array:
- Main Camera: A 50MP, 1/1.31-inch Light Fusion 950 sensor with OIS.
- Telephoto Camera: A 50MP periscope lens offering 5x optical zoom (115mm equivalent).
- Ultrawide Camera: A 50MP sensor with a 102˚ field of view (18mm equivalent).
On the front, the phone sports a massive 6.9-inch OLED display with a 2,608 x 1,200px resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an impressive 3,500-nit peak local brightness. The screen is protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass and houses a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Powering this hardware is a colossal 7,560mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging. The device is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance and runs on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 3, based on Android 16.
The Redmi K90 Pro Max is available in black and white finishes with textured matte glass, as well as a blue version with a unique denim-like fabric back.
Pricing starts at CNY 3,999 (approx. RM2,370) for the 12GB/512GB model, with the top-tier 16GB/1TB version priced at CNY 5,299 (approx. RM3,138). A special Lamborghini Automobiles Racing Team “Champion Edition” is also available for CNY 5,499 (approx. RM3,257).
