Redmi Turbo 5 Max to Launch 29 Jan, Targets Flagships at Nearly Half the Price

Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will launch in China on 29 January, alongside the standard Redmi Turbo 5. The announcement was made by Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and head of the Redmi brand, via Weibo.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is positioned as the headline device in the series, targeting the highly competitive 2,500 yuan (~RM1,421) segment while aiming to challenge phones priced closer to 4,000 yuan (~RM2,274). Redmi says the Turbo lineup is designed to bridge the gap between mainstream and flagship performance without pushing prices higher.
Lu confirmed that the Turbo 5 Max will debut with the Dimensity 9500s chipset, marking the first time the Turbo series adopts a flagship-grade Dimensity 9000-class processor. Redmi claims the phone is tuned to rival significantly more expensive flagships.
Battery life is another focus. The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is expected to feature a 9,000mAh battery paired with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS power management, with Redmi claiming real-world endurance that could outperform some 10,000mAh competitors. The device is also expected to support 100W fast charging.
Alongside performance, Redmi is highlighting premium build quality, improved haptics, refined design, and water resistance as part of its effort to deliver a near-flagship experience at a lower price point.
The standard Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a smaller 6.59-inch display and a Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Turbo 5 Max will sport a larger 6.83-inch screen. Official images of the Turbo 5 in white and the Turbo 5 Max in orange have already been shared ahead of the launch.
