MediaTek Launches New Dimensity 9500s and 8500 Chipsets With Focus on AI, Gaming and Efficiency

MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9500s and 8500 for Flagship and Premium Smartphones

MediaTek has unveiled two new smartphone chipsets, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, aimed at powering the next wave of flagship and premium devices with a focus on performance, efficiency, gaming and on-device AI.

The new additions expand MediaTek’s Dimensity lineup as the company continues to push advanced features into more mainstream price segments. According to MediaTek, both chipsets are designed to deliver flagship-level experiences while maintaining strong power efficiency.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

The Dimensity 9500s sits at the top of the stack. Built on a 3nm process, it uses an all-big-core CPU design with one Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. MediaTek says this combination allows devices to deliver sustained performance without excessive power draw.

On the graphics side, the 9500s integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU with support for advanced ray tracing. MediaTek’s latest gaming technologies, including MAGT 3.0 and MFRC 3.0, are designed to stabilise frame rates while improving energy efficiency during long gaming sessions.

AI is another major focus. The Dimensity 9500s features a flagship NPU tuned for generative and multi-modal workloads, enabling on-device AI tasks such as photo editing, live photo post-processing, content summarisation for calls and meetings, and edge-based camera features. Imaging capabilities are handled by the MediaTek Imagiq ISP, which supports 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording and real-time 30fps motion tracking.

Connectivity features on the Dimensity 9500s include a 5G Release 17 modem with up to 7Gbps downlink speeds, MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0, AI Network Suite 2.0 for improved performance in weak signal areas, extended Wi-Fi range via Xtra Range 3.0, and long-distance phone-to-phone Bluetooth connections of up to 5 kilometres.

Dimensity 8500

Positioned just below it, the Dimensity 8500 targets premium smartphones, emphasising efficiency and smooth performance. It is built on a 4nm process and uses an all-big-core CPU configuration with eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked up to 3.4GHz. Support for LPDDR5X memory at speeds of up to 9600 Mbps is designed to enhance multitasking and sustained performance.

The Dimensity 8500 features a Mali-G720 GPU, delivering up to 25% higher peak performance and 20% lower power consumption compared to its predecessor. Ray tracing support is also included for mainstream mobile games, alongside MediaTek’s upgraded gaming engine for faster load times and frame stability.

AI capabilities on the Dimensity 8500 are handled by MediaTek’s eighth-generation NPU, with support for large language models, image generation, AI-powered telephoto processing and the Dimensity AI semantic engine for smarter image optimisation.

With the Dimensity 9500s and 8500, MediaTek is signalling its intent to make advanced gaming, AI and connectivity features more widely available across flagship and premium smartphones launching later this year.
