After months of rumours, Xiaomi has just thrown down the gauntlet in the high-end smartphone arena, announcing its brand-new, in-house developed flagship chipset; the Xring O1. This silicon powerhouse makes its debut alongside the company’s latest premium offering, the Xiaomi 15S Pro.
The Xring O1: Xiaomi’s Silicon Breakthrough
While the Xiaomi 15S Pro visually mirrors the existing Xiaomi 15 Pro, the real story lies within. The Xring O1 represents a significant leap for Xiaomi, placing them in the exclusive club of smartphone manufacturers capable of designing their own top-tier silicon, aiming to rival the likes of Qualcomm and MediaTek.
Crafted by Xiaomi and further manufactured on TSMC’s cutting-edge second-generation N3E 3nm process, the Xring O1 therefore boasts an impressive ten-core CPU configuration. Specifically, this setup comprises two high-octane Cortex-X925 prime cores clocked at a blistering 3.9GHz, in addition to six Cortex-A725 performance cores running between 1.9–3.4 GHz, as well as two power-efficient Cortex-A520 cores ticking at 1.8 GHz.
Handling graphics duties is a potent 16-core ARM Immortalis-G925 GPU, promising top-tier gaming and multimedia experiences. The chipset also integrates a dedicated 6-core NPU, delivering a substantial 44 TOPS of processing power for on-device AI tasks.
Performance That Rivals the Best
Xiaomi isn’t shy about showcasing the Xring O1’s prowess. For instance, the company revealed that its flagship SoC has achieved an AnTuTu score exceeding the 3 million mark, reportedly outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Furthermore, in Geekbench 6 benchmarks, the Xring O1 managed over 3,000 points in the single-core test and surpassed 9,000 points in the multi-core test, with the latter even edging out Apple’s A18 Pro.
The Xring O1 comes packed with the latest connectivity and memory standards, including support for LPDDR5T RAM, lightning-fast UFS 4.1 storage, USB 3.2 Gen2, and future-proof Wi-Fi 7. For imaging enthusiasts, the chipset incorporates a custom 3-core Xiaomi ISP, suggesting significant advancements in the phone’s camera capabilities.
Xiaomi 15S Pro: Identical on the Outside, Revolutionary Inside
Beyond the silicon swap, the Xiaomi 15S Pro otherwise mirrors the specifications of the standard Xiaomi 15 Pro. To begin with, this includes a vibrant 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a sharp QHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the camera system features a versatile triple 50MP array, encompassing an ultrawide, a wide, and a 5x periscope telephoto lens. Powering the device, a large 6,100mAh silicon carbon battery is paired with blazing-fast 90W wired charging. On the software side, the device boots Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. Finally, it will be available in Black and Blue.
