CES 2026: ASUS ROG Xreal R1 Brings 240Hz Micro-OLED to Your Face

ASUS and Xreal Unveil ROG XReal R1 High-Performance Gaming Glasses at CES 2026

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced a strategic partnership with Xreal to launch the ROG Xreal R1, a new pair of gaming glasses designed to provide a massive virtual display in a portable form factor. Unveiled at CES 2026, the device aims to bridge the gap between high-end monitor performance and on-the-go convenience.

A Pocket-Sized 171-Inch Display

The standout feature of the ROG Xreal R1 is its ability to project a virtual screen that appears as a 171-inch display viewed from four meters away. Unlike standard portable monitors, these glasses employ Micro-OLED technology to deliver a 1080p resolution with deep contrasts and vibrant colours.

For competitive gamers, the glasses support a refresh rate of 240Hz. This high refresh rate ensures that animations remain smooth and motion blur is minimised, even during fast-paced gameplay. The device offers a 57-degree field of view (FOV), which provides a spacious visual experience while allowing users to maintain awareness of their real-world surroundings.

Advanced Features and Immersion

The ROG Xreal R1 includes several features designed to enhance immersion and usability:

  • Anchor Mode: Using built-in 3D depth of field (DoF) technology, this mode allows users to “pin” the virtual screen to a fixed position in space. If the user looks away, the screen stays in place rather than following their head movements. This is useful for multitasking or when users need to interact with the real world without removing the glasses.
  • Bose Audio: ASUS has collaborated with Bose to integrate optimised audio directly into the glasses’ temples. This setup is designed to deliver a rich soundstage for gaming and media consumption, eliminating the need for external headphones.
  • Adaptive Brightness: The lenses feature electrochromic technology that automatically adjusts the tint based on ambient lighting. Users can also manually tint the lenses to suit their preference, ensuring the display remains visible in bright environments.

Versatile Connectivity

The glasses are designed for seamless integration with the ROG ecosystem. They connect directly via USB-C to handheld devices like the ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X and compatible smartphones. This allows travellers to turn a small handheld screen into a cinematic experience on planes or trains.

For home use, the glasses come bundled with the ROG Control Dock. This docking station simplifies multi-device setups by providing two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port. Gamers can connect both a console and a PC to the dock and switch the glasses’ input between them with a single button press.

Availability

ASUS has confirmed that the ROG Xreal R1 gaming glasses are expected to ship globally in the first half of 2026. While specific pricing details have not yet been released, the company encourages interested buyers to contact local ROG representatives for regional distribution information.

The device is currently on display at the ASUS and Xreal booths at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
