Apple Launches New AirTag With Longer Range, Louder Speaker, and Smarter Find My Features
TL;DR: Apple launches a new AirTag with a longer Precision Finding range, louder speaker, and Apple Watch support, priced from RM129.
Apple has unveiled the next generation of AirTag, upgrading its popular item tracker with a longer finding range, a louder speaker, and deeper integration with the Find My ecosystem. This announcement confirms what we heard before in December of a refreshed tracking device coming.

The new AirTag is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, enabling Precision Finding from up to 50 per cent farther away than the previous model. Using visual, haptic, and audio cues, users can locate misplaced items, such as keys, wallets, and bags, more quickly.

Apple has also expanded Precision Finding beyond the iPhone. For the first time, users can locate AirTags using Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, bringing item tracking directly to the wrist.
Findability is further enhanced with a redesigned internal speaker that is 50 per cent louder and audible from up to twice the distance of the previous generation. A new chime, combined with enhanced Precision Finding, makes it easier to locate items hidden in hard-to-see or hard-to-reach places.

The new tracking device continues to rely on Apple’s Find My network, a crowdsourced system of Apple devices that anonymously detect nearby AirTags using Bluetooth and securely relay their approximate location back to the owner when the tracker is out of direct range.

Apple has also highlighted expanded support for Share Item Location, which allows users to temporarily share the location of a misplaced item with trusted third parties such as airlines. The company says more than 50 airlines now support the feature, helping reduce baggage delays and significantly lowering the number of unrecoverable lost luggage cases.
Privacy and safety remain central to AirTag’s design. The new AirTag uses end-to-end encryption, does not store location history on the device, and includes protections against unwanted tracking, such as cross-platform alerts and frequently changing Bluetooth identifiers.
Maintaining the same form factor as the original, the new AirTag is compatible with all existing AirTag accessories. Apple says the device is designed with sustainability in mind, using recycled materials across its enclosure, magnets, and circuit boards.
The new AirTag will be available in Malaysia soon, priced at RM129 for a single unit or RM429 for a four-pack. Free personalised engraving is available via apple.com/my and the Apple Store app. The device requires a compatible iPhone running iOS 26 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 26 or later, with certain features requiring supported Apple Watch models and watchOS 26.2.1.
